🌌 This Graduation Address is Gold

Published 11 months ago • 1 min read

Hey Creative Futurist,

It's graduation season!

This year I got to connect with several seniors in the Class of 2023 (one even stopped me in the hall to get his yearbook signed!)

I share a special connection with this year's graduating class.

Why?

Because it marks 20 years since I graduated from high school. (Even though many students thought I was in my 20s! Ha!)

So for this special issue of The Creative Futurist I address the Class of 2023, in a speech I was never asked to deliver, but did anyway.

In "An Address to the Class of 2023...Play Smart," I dive into the blend of work and play, leveraging technology, and continuous improvement.

But it's not just a typical 'work hard', blah blah speech!

I also throw in events from my time as a skin n' bones high school kid.

The kind of events only those of us of a certain age can appreciate (anybody remember Y2K?).

Anyway, I encourage you to hit the button below and read it.

And if you have a son or daughter (or know parents of someone graduating) pass this along.

It's advice I would have like to have heard 20 years ago.

Best,

Keith

Hey Reader, Public speaking is something many people fear. I remember hearing the advice to "picture the audience naked" when I was younger. That never worked for me. What did? Seeking out opportunity, dedication to improving, and messing up A LOT. Do you find yourself tensing up whenever someone asks you to give a presentation or briefing? You're definitely not alone. Before I became the president of the Oki Orators Toastmasters club this week, I was one nervous, sweaty kid. But I hid it...

Hey Reader, I just returned from a weeklong adventure in Mongolia. Do you know anything about the country? If not don't worry, I didn't either before I visited, but I learned a great deal about the country's culture and people during my stay. I toured monasteries in the blazing Gobi Desert, drank fermented horse milk, and crossed the great Mongolian steppe on an old Soviet train, among many other exciting events. Yet, through it all I jotted down my thoughts on the things I saw and...
